The hotel is a charming place. Away from the hustle and bustle of the town but, not too far away from it either. The room was grand and genuinely old world. The staff were warm and service was really good. I would not think twice in selecting this hotel again on my next trip to Ooty.

An elegant resort on the lines of a home stay facility, Glyngarth Villa Resort is set up in a 155 year old colonial house that is surrounded by 4.5 acres of greenery. Offering a secluded environment away from the chaos of the town, and yet close enough to offer all modern luxuries, it is the ideal place to stay while on a holiday. A tree lined driveway leads to the beautiful yellow building with a gabled roof and wooden porch. The lobby and living room are furnished with antique furniture, large paintings and elegant upholstery. The spacious living room has a functional fireplace with a deer head trophy as the mantle piece. A circular room with windows on all sides, the living room is flooded with natural light and is ideal for a book reading session. The resort has an interesting collection of books with topics ranging from history to spirituality. In the evenings, guests can enjoy their meal in the adjoining dining hall accompanied by soulful music played by a live band. While the ground floor comprises common areas, the rooms are located on the first floor of the building.RoomsThe resort provides luxurious accommodation in 5 elegantly furnished rooms that are divided into 3 Deluxe Double rooms and 2 Master Deluxe rooms. Named after the various trees found in the region, the rooms are called Pine, Beech, Oak, Maple and Wattle. Each room is very spacious and has a four poster bed, functional fireplace and cushioned chairs. Each room has an attached washroom that receives a continuous supply of hot and cold water and is appointed with all modern amenities.A conscious effort has been made to limit outside influence on guests while they de-stress and enjoy a peaceful holiday. So while each room has a television, telephones have been completely avoided. For the convenience of guests, a bell switch on the first floor lobby is connected to the housekeeping room.DiningInstead of the regular dining facilities, guests can enjoy delicious Chinese, Continental, North Indian and South Indian food cooked by a professional chef who is well versed in world cuisine. Every evening, guests can enjoy a candle lit dinner in the dining hall or outdoors while a band sets the perfect mood for a serene evening. As per guest preference, a variety of specialities are cooked with garden fresh vegetables and fragrant spices.
