Tea County Hotel Description

At an elevated slope of the Munnar hills are a cluster of very attractive cottages called the Tea County under the aegis of the KTDC. Built in 1999, this resort is one of the premier properties in Thekkady. The sprawling property covers one side of a hill and is interspersed with verdant lawns, cultivated flowers and stone pathways. The lobby and reception is big, much like a hall and has a quaint classiness about it.

Rooms
The resort has a total of 43 rooms divided into 1 Suite, 8 Deluxe rooms and 34 Regular rooms. The basic difference across all rooms id the size and the view. Barring that, the services and facilities are similar. The Deluxe room has slanting walls and is comfortable looking and has a nice feel to it. The room is equipped with a seating area comprising of a sofa unit with a centre table, grandfather chairs, study table, tea and coffee maker, satellite television telephone, room heater and a private balcony. There is a cloak room here as well, which houses the cupboard, luggage rack and a dressing table. The bathroom is spic and span and big with a bathtub and amenities such as dental kit, shaving kit, moisturizer, shower cap, sewing kit and Biotique products such as soap, shampoo, body cleanser, lotion, talc etc. The Regular rooms are the same as the Deluxe room but the view from the rooms is just spectacular. In addition, these rooms have complimentary mineral water, tea and coffee maker as well. However, this room does not have a separate cloak room and everything is fitted in one room. The front side of the room has a common verandah, while the backside a private balcony. The bathroom is the same but the products here are not branded. The Suites are big with a separate living and bedroom. The living room has the drawing and dining area while the bedroom is much like the other rooms.

Dining
The resort has a restaurant called the County Cuisine, which can easily pass for a ballroom! Its size is matched with the wonderful ambience and the delicious cuisines to suit the palette of the guests. The resort also has the High Life bar, where they serve domestic beer and wine only. with a seating capacity of 30 persons, the bar is open from 10:00 am till 10:00 pm.

Facilities
The resort has conference hall called the View Point, which can accommodate about 150-200 persons depending upon the set up. The hall is open for all kinds of formal and informal gatherings and the hotel authorities outsource the secretarial service at the time of a function. Besides this, there is the Age Halt Ayurvedic Massage Centre headed by a team of well qualifies doctor and well trained masseurs. The centre provides all kinds of treatment and rejuvenation massages, only after consultation with the in house doctor. The Centre is open from 8:30 am till 8:00 pm. There is also a recreation centre here with facilities like table tennis, carom, billiards, which the guests can use on a complimentary basis. Children can have a time of their life in the open playground surrounded by a rose garden with swings, see-saws, merry-go-rounds etc. The Body Guard health club is well equipped with all modern machines for the guests to work out. The souvenir shop at the reception has a wide variety of goods to offer from jewellery to journals and artifacts to traditonal clothes. Besides this, other services here include 24 hours room service, laundry service, housekeeping service, travel desk, car rental services, doctor on call etc.

The property as a whole - the lush garden filled with the aroma of roses and the view of the distant tea gardens shrouded in a veil of floating clouds is a rare sight!

The resort is located at Munnar about 130 kilometres away from Cochin airport, 162 kilometres away from Madurai airport, 100 kilometres away from the nearest railhead at Thekkady and 125 kilometres away from Ernakulam railway station.
