Deshadan The Mountain Resort Hotel Description

The Deshadan Mountain Resort is situated at the peak of a hill on the outskirts of Munnar. It is the lone structure amidst cotton mist and blue skies. It is Kerala's highest resort, simply put - in the skies.

Lobby
In a deserted space, this hotel commands attention. The lobby is an open walled, cross ventilated space, beneath a brick cottage. The stone and tiled flooring offers a raw yet graceful look to the space. Three of the walls have glass through which you can enjoy the view outside. Cane and wood benches and chairs occupy the space. An idol of Ganesh Ji sits in a corner and newspapers and magazines are provided as well.

Rooms
A total of 15 rooms are spread out in 1 Standard Cottage, 3 Deluxe Cottages and 7 individual Deluxe rooms. Each cottage houses two rooms and each room has a balcony. The only difference between Deluxe and Standard Cottages are their space and size and the general layout and detailing of the interiors; the facilities remain the same. The facilities common to all the rooms are cable television, hot & cold running water and direct dial STD and local telephones. The Deluxe Cottages are large spaces with 2 bedrooms, a dining table, living room with a sofa cum bed and two washrooms. The Standard Cottages are a little smaller with the same amenities and the Deluxe rooms are one room with a small study table and seating space and an attached washroom. The rooms are basic and comfortable, catering to large families and individuals or couples.

Services & Facilities
Added services for the convenience of the guests include ETC. which is the convenience store on the premises as the hotel is not within the city, Recreation Centre with darts, a fuseball table, carom and chess, conference facilities, campfire, doctor on call, trekking and acceptance of all major credit cards.

Dining
The dining facility offered in the hotel comprises of a quaint restaurant called Deshadan. It is a multi cuisine restaurant that can accommodate 24 persons and is open for a buffet breakfast (8:00 am to 10:30 am), a la carte lunch (12:00 noon to 3:00 pm) and buffet dinner (8:00 pm to 10:30 pm). It is a separate thatched cottage with two counters along the sides that act as the buffet table and two life size banana leaves mounted on the walls. Red, ethnic lanterns light the space and the music here is played by the birds.

Banquets & Conferences
The conferencing facility includes a miniature conference hall which is used as a game room when not holding any business meeting. The hotel can arrange audio visual equipment from Cochin which requires a booking well in advance. It can accommodate around 25 persons.

This hotel in the mountains can prove to be a romantic place for couples on their honeymoon or for groups who are looking to get away from the daily grind of the city.

Location
The hotel is located on a hilltop and is 6.5 kilometres from the main Munnar town, 130 kilometres from the Cochin airport and 120 kilometres from the Aluva railway station.
