Barwara Kothi is a new heritage hotel right next to Soma in Jaipur. It is an historic home and lovingly furnished and maintained by Deepali Singh and her family, including her charming father. We thoroughly enjoyed our night at Barwara Kothi, including a lovely dinner with fellow guests. Highly recommend this place.

Barwara is a great option when visiting the city. It's a quaint boutique-ish homestay managed by a family who literally host you in their lovely home. The rooms are spacious and equipped with basics like an AC and TV. There is a selective room service menu that is reasonable. But if you'd like to o rder off the menu, the kitchen staff is more than accomodating. The food otherwise is homely and a mix of Indian and Continental dishes. The location of this place is brilliant with shopping and dining outlets within walking distance...literally across the road. The area is calm and peaceful and far removed from all the chaos of the city. Yet, it is easily accessable to the main local shopping area near Hawa Mahal. The hospitality you get here is unmatched. Having stayed at many hotels, the family at Barwara were SO welcoming and treated all the guests like friends. It was all very personalized. Overall, anyone looking to break away from the conventional hotel set-up and wanting to try a unique experience, Barwara should be the place to stay at. You'll be recommending it like I am thereafter...guaranteed!

  • Barwara Kothi-Luxury Heritage Home Stay Hotel Description

    Location
Barwara Kothi is situated in the plush Civil Lines, 500 metres from Jai Mahal and one km from Raj Bhawan. It is about 12 km from the airport and 2 km from the bus station, 1 km from the railway station and within convenient driving distance from all major shopping areas of Jaipur.

Barwara Kothi marks a stark difference from regular run-of-the-mill hotels in Jaipur, and is a refreshing alternative for guests looking for something more. It is a colonial villa with the building dating back to the early 20th century, evoking the serenity and nostalgia of the Raj era. Its rooms, furnished with traditional furniture and antiques, have walls adorned with photographs reminiscent of life back then.

    Rooms
There are 8 tastefully done and centrally air conditioned rooms overlooking the lawns, each equipped with new age comforts including an elegant sitting area with sofas, colour television, telephone, study table, relining chair and cupboard. The rooms are divided into 3 Deluxe rooms, 4 Suites and 1 Master Suite. The rooms have big sliding windows opening into the lawns while there are seating arrangements in the patio and the lawns. Washroom amenities are common across categories and include khadi soaps, shampoo, shower cap, linen, tissues and a geyser.

    Dining
The home stay offers multiple cuisines including Indian, Continental and Rajasthani delicacies. Room service is limited to beverages. Breakfast is served from 7 am to 10:30 am in the tastefully decorated dining hall on the first floor while other meals are prepared on prior order. Guests are requested to inform the staff about their culinary preferences. Dinner is served between 7 pm and 10:30 pm.

    Services & Facilities
Internet access is offered at a charge of Rs. 30 per half hour and airport/railway station transfers can also be arranged at a nominal charge. Other facilities available at Barwara Kothi include a car rental service, medical assistance, laundry service and spacious parking.

    Area Attractions

    Sanganer Airport (12 Km)

Sanganer Airport is situated near the town of Sanganer, at a distance of 13 km from Jaipur. It is the only international airport in Rajasthan. Facilities available include: post office, prepaid taxi counter, duty free shop, and foreign exchange counter.

    Railway Station (1.5 Km)

Located on Station Road, the railway station is located a little ahead of the Inter State Bus Station. The Civil Line and Banni Park residential complexes are nearby, so is the shopping area in Mirza Ismail Road.

    Amber Fort (10 Km)

The Amber Fort is a fascinating blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. Constructed by Raja Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by Sawai Jai Singh I, it is made in red sandstone and white marble with an exquisite fusion of art and architecture.

    City Palace (6 Km)

The City Palace founded by Sawai Jai Singh is a blend of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture. Places worth seeing here are Mubarak Mahal, Sawai Man Singh Museum and the Maharani’s Palace. Interestingly, the royal family still lives in the palace.

An erstwhile cinema hall on Station Road, today Polo Victory is a heritage hotel cum business centre located next to the station. It is a major landmark of the city.

    Hawa Mahal (5 Km)

    Jantar Mantar (5 Km)

This is another of Sawai Man Singh’s vast aspirations. This royal observatory is the derivation of the term Yantra Mantra i.e. formulae and equipment. There are 14 astronomical devices at the Jantar Mantar, each with a specific function to perform.

    Bapu Bazar (4.5 Km)

One of the major markets of Jaipur, Bapu Bazar is overflowing with textiles, kota doria saris, local perfumes, kundan and minakri work, shoes made of camel skin, Rajasthani trinkets and bandhani work. The market remains closed on Sundays.

    Moti Dungri (6 Km)

A small hill in the centre of Jaipur, Moti Dungri meaning pearl hill is an exotic palace with the remnants of a Scottish castle once occupied by Maharaja Madho Singh’s son. An auspicious temple of Lord Ganesh here finds devotees from all over India.
