Hyderabad City Attractions
Necklace Road
This is the road that passes around the Husain Sagar Lake and has been opened to the public. It is a nice place to hang out and relax especially at ÂEat Street built on the banks of the lake.
Charminar
This monument was built in the centre of Hyderabad by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 to commemorate the eradication of a plague. It is an impressive square monument with high pointed minarets, built with granite and lime mortar.
Begumpet Airport
It is currently the only international airport in Andhra Pradesh ad is host to the AP Aviation Academy & the Begumpet Air Force Station of the Indian Air Force. It has 13 parking bays and handles both international and domestic traffic.
Railway Station
Hyderabad has a light rail transportation system known as the Multi Modal Transport System - MMTS. It connects various parts of the city with Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Lingampally and Falaknuma.
Husain Sagar
This lake was built by Hazrat Husain Shah Wali in 1562. It spans over 24 kilometres and is built on the tributary of the River Musi to meet water and irrigation needs. There is a large monolithic statue of Lord Buddha in the centre of the lake.
Tankbund
It dams Husain Sagar Lake on the Eastern side and connects the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. It is lined with 33 statues of famous personalities who have done their motherland proud and every Sunday cultural programs are held here.
Golconda Fort
This is a ruined city and fortress 11 kilometres west of Hyderabad. It consists of 4 distinct forts with a 10 kilometre long outer wall having 87 semi circular bastions, 8 gateways, 4 drawbridges and a number of royal apartments, temples and mosques.
Jubilee Hills
En route to Hi Tech City, Jubilee Hills is divided into residential colonies and commercial areas. It is in western region of the city and is about 10 kms from the city centre.
Banjara Hills
An up market residential colony in the northwestern part of the city, Banjara Hills is in proximity to Hi Tech City. It also houses several restaurants and educational institutes.
Hi Tech City
The technological hub of Hyderabad, Hi Tech City is home to offices of various technology outfits like IBM, Microsoft and Oracle. The famous Indian Business School is also located in this area.
Secundrabad
The twin city of Hyderabad, Secundrabad is separated by the man made lake, Husain Sagar. It was founded in the 18th century as a British Cantonment and till date has a large army presence.
Ameerpet
One of the smaller shopping hubs in Hyderabad, Ameerpet is popular among the locals for its exquisite saree collection and Indian clothes. It is alos noted for its educational centers.
Airport
Hyderabad Airport is also known as Begumpet Airport and used to be the only international airport in Andhra Pradesh, until the opening of the Hyderabad International Airport on the 23rd of March 2008.
Hussain Sagar Lake
Hussain Sagar is a man-made lake that is famous for the Buddha statue on a platform island called the Rock of Gibraltar, and for Tank Bund, which consists of beautiful gardens and statues. Boating and water sports are a regular feature here.
Bus Stand
Hyderabad Bus Station is officially named the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, and it is locally known as the Imlibun Bus Station. It is the third largest bus station facility in Asia, with 72 platforms for 72 buses to load passengers at a time.
