Panjim Peoples Hotel Description

Come here if you are looking for something different, something with a flavour of history. Combining art with heritage, Panjim Peoples is housed in an 1880s vintage building which itself lies in the Fontainhas, the Portuguese part of Panjim, and is a conservation area. A school until 3 years ago, the owners have lovingly restored it, creating a contemporary art gallery on the ground floor and 4 rooms filled with quirky antiques on the first floor.

The entire property has wonderful attention to details that you hardly see in hotels. There is a common area in the centre around which the four rooms are set (called, simply, A, B, C and D). An old map of the world hangs here and the antiques look very pretty in the light of the stained glass windows. A common phone is kept here.

Rooms
All the four air conditioned rooms have similar amenities but each is exclusive, set aside by its decor. The old, red-tiled and patterned floor sets off the beautiful period furnishings. All carved in dark rosewood, the four poster beds, almirahs, divans, dressing tables, planters chairs and lace curtains create the way of living of the century that has gone. Original art work adorns the walls and vintage lamps add to the quaintness of the rooms. Each room has an electronic locker. From the balcony you get a beautiful view of the Fontainhas. One of the rooms (C) has an extra room with a cot.

The washrooms are entities in themselves, the most non-washroom like washrooms. Little colourful tiles are put on every possible surface - the walls, the floor - with flower patters, giving them a very arty look. All the washrooms are very, very spacious, have bathtubs, hot and cold running water and soap.

Amenities at Panjim Peoples include cable television, mini refrigerator and tea/coffee maker. The property does not offer room service as the food can damage the delicate art work and the antiques.

Dining & Facilities
Since there is no room service, meals are to be had at the restaurant at Panjim Inn, which lies across the road from Panjim Peoples and is a part of the same establishment, the main one in fact. Most facilities therefore are common between the two properties. The reception is at Panjim Inn and that's where the staff stays. Facilities offered include doctor on call and laundry service.

Location
Located on 31st January Road in old Panjim, the airport is 45 km from Panjim Peoples, the railway station is 12 km while the bus stand is only a kilometres away, across the road.
