Panjim Inn Hotel Description

Quaint and lovely, the Panjim Inn, about 120 years old, is a replica of a typical Goan home. The beautiful open lobby and the quaint lights, compliment the rustic decor of the rooms here. This charming property was built in the late 1800's by Francis Assis D'Silveira and has been owned by the same family over 5 generations. With gilded pelmets and wrought iron railings in the balconies, this inn exudes an old world charm. It is Goa's first and only heritage hotel by the Hotel & Restaurant Approval and Classification Committee.

Rooms
The inn has a total of 24 rooms divided into 6 Deluxe rooms, 10 Superior rooms, 7 Standard rooms and 1 Suite. All the rooms here are furnished with antique decor, handed down by generations of the owner's family. These family heirlooms are contrasted with modern amenities like a mini bar, satellite television and air conditioners. The Superior room has wooden floors and mud plastered walls with colourful bed linen matched with antique wooden chairs, a luggage rack, a dressing table and a cupboard. The room has a balcony overlooking the road as well. The Deluxe room is a smaller room with the same amenities but without the balcony. The Standard room is smaller than the Deluxe room with the same facilities and services. Only the Suite has an additional living room furnished with cane sofas and divans but with a similar bedroom as above.

Dining
An adjoining hall lined with paintings by artists from Goa serves as the dining hall and is flanked by a wooden balcony where chairs are placed for a perfect meal. The kitchen conjures exotic Goan and Continental and Indian food for the guests. The restaurant sports lot of wood detailing and light in the form of lanterns hanging from the ceiling. It is on the 1st floors and is tastefully laid out in the veranda. Guests can enjoy local and continental cuisine. To top it off, you are welcome to try their hand in the kitchen or suggest changes to the menu. You can also enjoy a beer, a local Feni or some refreshing juice while enjoying a meal here.

Location
The Panjim Inn is located in Panjim about 25 kilometres away from the Dabolim airport and 12 kilometres away from the Margaon railway station.

Area Attractions

Dona Paula (5 Km)

Steeped in myth and romance, the beach is named after Dona Paula De Menezes, the erstwhile Viceroy’s daughter. This is where the Zuari and Mandovi estuaries meet the sea. The Dona Paula beach houses the National Oceanography Institute.

Calangute Beach (18 Km)

Located in North Goa, it s one of the most popular beaches, and thousands throng to it every year. It has some of the best shacks to eat and drink at – like Tito s, Mambo s, and the ever delightful Souza Lobo s. Fort Aguada is also visible at one end.

Baga Beach (20 Km)

An extension of Calangute beach, Baga is where all the action is. Locals and tourists alike do it all here: swim, indulge in watersports, or walk the curvy shore. It also has great shacks, such as Britto s. Anjuna is just past the cliffs to the north.

Old Goa Church (10 Km)

Old Goa is 8 km from Panaji, and is dotted with many churches and cathedrals. The most famous among these is Se Cathedral. Constructed in 1562, it is the largest cathedral in Asia. The Church of St. Francis of Assisi is also famous, built in 1521.
