Monolith Resort Hotel Description

The name of the resort puzzles you as you go up the very steep driveway. One look at the property and it all falls into place - Monolith Resorts is all rock - from the parking floor to the boundary walls to even the swimming pool! This property evokes the mountains in its stone-and-wood architecture. Beautifully built, the reception cum lobby is the entry point which is like a 'machan' propped up on wooden rafters with stone railings. Trees sway all around, casting deep shadows and the rolling gardens have three rather grim looking, well, monolith effigies. Rightfully, the resort has been the winner of the 'Indian Architecture Award'.

Rooms
Monolith Resorts has 3 Luxury cottages, 10 Independent Deluxe cottages, 3 Super Deluxe rooms and 3 Swiss Tents. All rooms have round the clock room service. The Luxury cottages have a split-level structure. As you enter, the living space greets you with deep red couches contrasting with the stark, stone walls and a fireplace giving the room a cosy look. Climb some steps and there's the bedroom with a mini refrigerator (chargeable for soft drinks), television (with satellite connection), telephone and a funky lamp. A little alcove opposite the bed leads to a divan, surrounded by glass windows on three sides, with a beautiful view of the lake. A flight of wooden stairs on the right leads to a large, private terrace with seating arrangement and a great view. The spacious en suite washroom is all done in granite - walls, floor and ceiling - with geyser, shower and bath amenities such as shampoo and soap. The independent Deluxe Cottages are similar to Luxury cottages, only smaller in size. Some of these have an extra seating alcove and bed, as also a lovely outside seating area covered with verdant vines.

The resort's Swiss tents are perched on raised platforms and have a double bed, chairs and coffee table, television with satellite connection and a quaint lantern setting off this decor. The en suite washrooms are contemporary and concrete with a shower and geyser. Bath amenities include shampoo and soap.

Super Deluxe Rooms are not built in stone but are contemporary structures with wooden flooring. The rooms are spacious and new. Amenities include television with satellite connection, wardrobe and telephone. En suite washrooms have a geyser and shower and the usual bath amenities.

Dining
The restaurant is open air with a sturdy stone pillar supporting a shed roof over the tables. The decor is leafy trees here and the lake shimmers in the distance. Multi cuisine fare is served at the restaurant while you can also choose to have your meals by the pool side which is tree-shaded as well.

Hotel Facilities
The swimming pool looks over the lake and has shady trees surrounding it with quaint lanterns hanging on them. There is shaded seating around the pool, as well as little alcoves to retire to. You can climb up the watch tower here and get be bowled over by the splendid panorama of the mountains and of course, the lake. Behind the watch tower lies the resort amphitheatre where cultural programmes are held. There is a conference hall with a capacity of 80-100 guests in theatre style, and 50 guests in U-shape. A games room has options such as Billiards, table tennis, carom, chess and a respectable number of books. Outdoor activities include badminton. Other facilities comprise a souvenir shop, car rental, sightseeing, doctor on call, laundry, housekeeping and car parking.
