Alwar Overview
A former princely state, Alwar is a historic city set amidst a rugged and scenic landscape that is filled with natural and artificial lakes and ponds. The city also has forts, palaces, temples, and gardens. There is also the beautiful Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary in close proximity, which has a wide range of flora and fauna.So, apart from from visiting the Project Tiger Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary, you can also visit the Sariska Palace, the Alwar Fort (Bala Quila), the City Palace, the Vijay Mandir Palace, the Siliserh Palace, and the beautiful gardens: Purjan Vihar and Nehru Garden. Also try to visit the nearby Jaisamand Lake, the Siliserh Lake, and the ancient haveli: Haldia Bhawan. Last and not but the least is the wonder of the oldest (built in 1855) working engine in the world, found in the Fairy Queen Train.
