The colonial-style Club Med La Pointe aux Canonniers, located in Mauritius gently rises above lush green lawns awash with hibiscus. The Resort has made available two magnificent beaches to its guests. The Resort is 40 miles away from the Plaisance Airport and it generally takes about an hour and thirty minutes to transfer from here to the resort.
Rooms
The resort offers quality accommodation in 280 beautifully-furnished rooms in 3 categories, i.e. Superior Rooms, which are located on the first and upper floors and offer splendid views of the gardens; Deluxe Rooms, which are sea-facing rooms offering guests with a great combination of space, comfort and serenity and Suites, which come complete with a splendid circular view of the ocean as well as a fully furnished terrace and a separate dining room.
Dining
The resort has a choice of 2 good restaurants, i.e. the Belle Creole, which offers buffets from world cuisines and has a separate terrace area for guests who like to smoke; The Paul and Virginie, which ideally set on the edge of the beach, just a few meters away from the ocean and offers breakfast, lunch and dinners (need to be booked in advance the reception). Other than these, the resort has two good bars, i.e. The Mauritius and The Paul and Virginie.
Facilities
The Resort offers great facilities to its guests. These include facilities for sports and leisure activities such as a fitness centre, golf, snorkelling and swimming. The resort has a great wellness centre to its credit, which comes complete with 5 individual treatment rooms, 1 treatment room for two and another treatment room especially reserved for Thai Massage.

The Dutch, French, English and even pirates traversed this African island on the Indian Ocean. This is good news for gourmands who can get their fill of African, Chinese, French and Indian cuisine.
If a vision of crystal clear water, white beaches and palms spring to mind when you hear about this island, you are right. There are many beautiful beaches and the islands, Ile Aux Cerfs and Rodrigues, are also quite close.
But Mauritius is more than that. The duty-free shopping scene is splendid with t-shirts, Vanilla Tea and ship models being great find. The food is delightful. The cultures of all those who came by the island makes up the cuisine. There's Dhol Puri, Bacon and Eggs, Rougaille and Biryani. Sugarcane Rum is the drink of choice and some of the local brands of beers are pretty good.
Snorkelling, scuba diving around the coral reef, quad biking, trekking volcanoes, zip lining, sky diving are but a few sports on offer. Walk underwater and walk with the lions, both unique experiences to be had in Mauritius.
Temples, churches and mosques engage you with their architecture and history, while a sega performance will have you grooving to its measured rhythms. Clap along with the musicians as the local women sway to it in fabulous flowing skirts.
