| OUDTSHOORN |
Oudtshoorn, a famous town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, is located in the ecologically diverse region of Little Karoo or Klein Karoo. The largest town in the region, Oudtshoorn is also home to the world's largest ostrich population. This is because of the numerous specialized ostrich breeding farms in the area, such as the Safari Show Farm and the Highgate Ostrich Show Farm, most of which have existed since the 19th century. Today, Oudtshoorn is a town that relies principally on tourism, ostriches, and agriculture. The town is also famous for many other things, such as the Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (Little Karoo National Arts Festival), which is South Africa's largest Afrikaans language arts festival. The production of the exceptional South African Port style wines in the surrounding regions also makes Oudtshoorn famous. Oudtshoorn has also recently become a hub for hot-air ballooning, and enthusiasts from all over the world come to see the regions natural beauty from high in the skies. The proximity of the mountains of the Swartberg Pass, which provide plenty of opportunity of treks, is also a famous part of the region. The area also has numerous limestone cliffs and outcrops, perfect for rock-climbing, and suitable for both beginners and experts. Last but not the least in the list of what makes Oudtshoorn famous are the Cango Caves, which are Precambrian limestone caves that stretch for many kilometres below the mountains of the Swartberg Pass.

The largest game reserve in South Africa, Kruger National Park also has more species of mammals than any other game reserve of Africa, with over 147 species. Covering an area of almost 19,000 square kilometres, Kruger National is bounded by the South African Provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga to the west and the south, and the countries of Zimbabwe and Mozambique to the north and east. The Kruger National Park is administratively part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, which includes the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe and the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique. The park is also part of the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere, an area designated by UNESCO as an International Man and Biosphere Reserve.
Kruger National Park has 8 main gates, named Paul Kruger, Numbi, Malelane, Crocodile Bridge, Punda Maria, Orpen, Phabeni, Phalaborwa and Pafuri. Several rivers run through the park, including the Sabie River, and the climate of the park is subtropical. The Kruger National Park is divided into six eco-systems: Baobab sandveld, Mopane scrub, Lebombo knobthorn-marula bushveld, mixed acacia thicket, Combretum-silver clusterleaf woodland on granite, and Riverine forest. The park is known to have about 2,000 species of plants, along with 517 species of avifauna, and 147 species of mammals, including the african buffalo, african hunting dogs, black rhinoceros, white rhinoceros, Burchell's zebras, bushbucks, cheetahs, common eland, giraffes, greater kudus, hippopotamus, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, elephants, waterbuck, blue wildebeest, and impalas.
