Nainital Overview, India
Uttrakhand, a state in Northern India is a proud owner on the beautiful Nainital. The place adapts its name from the Naini Lake and the Goddess Naina Devi. It is an ideal holiday destination throughout the year. But the place is at its personal best during the months September and October. The dwellers of this place speak the local language Kumaoni. The other languages spoken in Nainital are English and Hindi. So, the travelers will find it easy to communicate. As per a legend, the father of Parvati, King Daksha had organized a great Yagya, but deliberately did not invite Parvati and her husband Lord Shiva. This insult was unbearable to Mata Parvati and she forcefully entered the Yagya ceremony and jumped into the furious flames of the Yagya Kund thereby putting an end to her life. Lord Shiva later came to take away his half charred dead body. It is believed that while Lord Shiva was carrying Parvatis body, on his way to the Kailash parvat, Parvatis eyes dropped into a lake. Therefore, the lake is called Naini and the name of place comes after the same name and is called Nainital. The beautiful hill station has a magnificent view of high snow-capped peaks, tangled ridges and planes.
Naini Peak which is located at a distance of 5 kilometres from Naini Lake is the impressive and imposing Naini Peak. The Peak stands at a height of 2,611 metres and offers fantastic view of the Himalayas, Nanda Devi Peak and the mountains forming the borders with Tibet. Naina Devi Temple is located close to Naini Lake and is dedicated to a manifestation of Hindu Goddess Durga. There is also a cave in the vicinity of the temple that visitors can visit. Hanumangarhi is a famous temple dedicated to the Hindu God Hanuman and lies at an elevation of more than 6,000 feet. The location is a beautiful place to see sunsets and is worth visiting during the Hindu festivals of Hanuman Jayanti and Ramnavami.Nainital - Read about Nainital, Places to visit, Nightlife, Attractions in Nainital.
