Located in the Kodagu district, the elevation of this hill resort town is a little over 1500 metres above sea level. The topography comprises rolling tea and coffee estates, spice plantations and orange orchards. The scenic beauty in Coorg has much relief from city life to offer tourists. While in Coorg, try some authentic and spicy Coorgi cuisine. The menu includes several non vegetarian and vegetarian dishes; all cooked using spices that are typically grown and cultivated locally. The best time to visit Coorg is from May to November when the plains are scorching. The verdant landscape of Coorg is not only soothing for the mind, body and soul but also accommodates for some activities and various adventure sports including whitewater rafting, trekking and angling. Coorg is also notable for the Nagarhole Wildlife Sanctuary or Rajiv Gandhi National Park where wildlife roams free including deer, bison, elephant ?chital? and ?sambhar?.
