While on Ahmedabad trip, visit Gandhi Ashram, the major attraction of the city. Also called Sabarmati Ashram, the ashram was the residence of Mahatma Gandhi. Kankaria Lake, a famous recreation site is a must visit place in Ahmedabad. Built by Sultan Qutub-ud-din in 1451, the lake houses a summer palace, beautiful parks, an aquarium, a boat club, a museum and a zoo. Just 30 km away from Ahmedabad is Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat and home to the famous Akshardham Temple and other tourist attractions. Take an excursion to Nalsarovar Bird Sanctuary (65 km), where you can see bird species like sandpipers, stints, openbill storks, grebes and cormorants.
