Sundarban, literally means beautiful jungle in Bengali, and lies at the mouth of the Ganges, reaching across into Bangladesh. A UNESCO world heritage site, it has waterways, mudflats, forests, and of course, the Sunderban National Park, which is home to the Royal Bengal Tiger, and numerous species of birds, flora, and fauna, including spotted deer, and salt water crocodiles.
Don't Miss Safaris galore, tigers roar, crocodiles bite, and yes, those are eyes glowing in the night. The Sundarbans is the place to be, and this, the largest delta in the world, is jam-packed with thousands of species of flora and fauna. Visit the following places: Sudhanyakhali Watchtower, from were most tigers are sighted; Sajnekhali Watchtower, complete with a museum, a Bonobibi Temple and a crocodile park; Sajnekhali - the bird sanctuary as well as tiger reserve; Holiday Island, famous for its Barking Deer; and Neti Do Pani, which has a temple that's over 400 years old and has many legends surrounding it. Also visit the Bhagbatpur Crocodile Project, Dobanki Watchtower, and Gosaba, which was Sir David Hamilton's settlement.
