" My booking was for Deluxe room, hence it is applicable for it. Overall hotel experience was very good. Restaurant is also very good. One thing I donÃ‚â€™t like is that, at the time of my check out no body came for receiving luggage. I think this is due to communication gap. I would also recommend that reception shall be on grand floor of 5 storey building and not away from it. "

"Room condition was bad and the bed condition was so bad that I got backache. Bathroom did not have towels and when asked for one, they gave us a wet towel. There were insects and lizards in the room. Food was also bad."

"The resort is about 10 kms from the main town of Munnar, but that kind of works out in favour of the tourist looking for a get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. I appreciate the enthusiasm of Mr. Vishnu who has a good focus on customer service, not very common in many Indian Managers. The staff was friendly and active and the buffet and breakfast was good. The location is really awesome and overall it's an excellent choice. I would like to go back to Igloo, this time for a longer stay."

"I really enjoyed my stay in Igloo. The calmness as well as the scenic beauty of the hills from my cottage were breath-taking. Early mornings were serene and pleasant. "As a newly married couple, we had limited choices to go to, mainly the north of India. However, anticipating extreme cold conditions there, we finally decided to go to Munnar and Kumarakom. At Kumarakom we stayed at Manor Backwater Resort. Right from the moment we entered the hotel, we fell in love with it. It is perfectly located on the banks of Vembanad Lake. Every room has a balcony which opens to the beautiful lake and tall coconut trees (what else are you in Kumarakom for if not for the view). The hotel organised sunset cruise for us (insist on individual occupancy of the boat though). The hotel is nicely done up with ethnic furniture, big rooms, quality room service. One thing where the hotel misses out greatly on is the food. As North Indians, we wanted to taste the local Kerela cuisine, but all we got there was continental, Indian and idlis and dosas. If the hotel introduces more erela cuisine, it would be the perfect place to go to in Kumarakom."

"The hotel does not live up to any standards. The faciliies and setrvices are extremely poor. The swimming pool water was dirty, there was no fan/AC in the table tennis room, food in the only restaurant was disgusting (there was a matchstick in my noodles), there is no bar, a lake is there but dirty...it was a nightmare... the only respite was the room which was nice and cosy...so I spent the entire stay in the room!!"

"Hotel's location is awesome, and our room was bang on the beach. Food was great, but they could do more to bring in authentic Kerala flavour (it was more of a 4-star menu). We had some issues with equipments in the room - toilet flush, air-conditioner, exhaust fan, etc. They need to have these checked and replaced to ensure 100% quality. Staff were niece and courteous."

"With due respect to the grandness of the hotel, it still did not appeal to me completely. It could have been so much better. The staff seems under-equipped. Most queries are responded with a strange reaction that I could not fathom. I had booked a Presidential Suite which apparently is the best room they offer. Well, it was a very disappointing room. A suite, for the hotel, is a living room and an extra washroom added to a normal hotel room. So much so that it looks like a flat apartment. There was no feel of any Suite. The Jacuzzi mentioned in the room details is a bathtub attached with few nozzles. The tub maintained in a way that you would not want to step in really. The 'Sea-View' Room is disappointing. The immediate outside view of the room is inferior for a Presidential Suite. The room service is okay. Food quality - nothing special/unique. Menu maintenance is very disappointing. The beach outside the property stinks. Overall, I would not want to go to Uday Samudra Leisure Beach Hotel again."

"The hotel is very beautifully located with nice beaches close around. Although, we were told that the Palace room we originally booked was not available anymore when we checked in. Also they tried to convince us that a Palace room was not correct described on the confirmation, instead they tried to install us in a highly moderate standard room instead which they referred to as a deluxe room. We did strongly object to these actions from the hotel and told them to check this with you. After some time in phone I guess down at the reception we did get a call about that we got an upgrade to a suit with a sea view. Which we happily accepted. Although the suit did not really felt like it was complete, no wardrobe closets, no safe lock, bad smell in the walls which was moist and unpainted. We really could not complain on the view so we did not make any fuss about it. The hotel service was good sometimes, and other times not that good, depending on who was asked."

Munnar

Draped over a hill, surrounded by tea plantations and backed by a splendid stretch of the Western Ghats, Munnar is a choice retreat in summer. Honeymooners frequent this hill station during all seasons for a taste of its cool and salubrious weather. The three rivers Madupetti, Nallathanni and Periavaru give Munnar its name, which means 'three rivers'. The Duke of Wellington's visit to Munnar in the 19th century put it on the map. Soon it acquired the status as a popular hill resort in south India and was nicknamed as Kerala's Scottish Highlands.

After enjoying the views from Echo Point or Top Station, take a short walk through tea plantations or go for a ride in a disco rickshaw. Lined with stalls selling tea, fruits and vegetables, the streets are crowded with people, cows and goats. Though most of the people are Tamilians, both Tamil and Malayalam are spoken.

The tribal colonies, where ancient customs are still practiced, are worth a visit. Attukal Pongala in February is their biggest event. Fort Munnar, a resort, hosts performances by tribals donning feathery headgear. Payippad Jalotsavam is when the excitement runs sky-high. It is the annual boat race held on Onam.

Picnicking at Anayirangal, looking out for the blue beauty, Neelakurinji (a flower that blooms every 12 years), watching pink dragonflies dancing around flowers, and practicing yoga at Chinnakanal Ayur Resort or Kaivalyam Retreat, fishing at Devikulam or High Range Club, or camping out at Hornbill or Anayirangal, there's lots to do in Munnar. And more, like trekking, cycling, kayaking, rafting, paragliding or a helicopter ride.

Wildlife enthusiasts can immerse themselves in lush greenery, sandalwood trees, sounds of animals, hidden streams, calls of birds and the myriad colours of flora. Oblivious to the world outside, the Eravikulam National Park, Thattekad (Salim Ali) Bird Sanctuary, Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary and shola forests (Butterfly forests) are dense with animals like Mountain Goats, Bisons and Tigers.

With stunning greenery, rolling mists all around, and a nip in the air, it is easy to lose track of time.
