Sandwiched between the lofty and mighty Western Ghats on one end and the Vembanad Lake on the other, Kottayam offers backwater stretches, lush paddy fields, highlands, hills and hillocks, extensive rubber plantations historic and places associated with many legends.
Don't Miss Vembanad Lake is an enchanting picnic spot where you can go wild boating, fishing and sight seeing. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is an ornithologist's paradise and a favourite haunt of migratory birds like the Siberian stork, egret, darter, heron and teal. Our suggestion is to cruise along the Vembanad Lake and get a first hand experience of the sanctuary.
