Ever heard of the adage ‘old is gold’? About 50 years old, The New Pavillion is probably one of the oldest hotels in Nainital. Located in one of the higher roads of Nainital, this hotel has a very strong appeal of the British Era, which is still resplendent in its walls, roof, balcony and in the corridors. Built in wood originally, it has undergone many stages of renovation, but has successfully managed to retain its old fervour. The wooden floors, the design of the bed, wardrobe and the doors and windows is reminiscent of the hotel's age old lineage of service.

Room Amenities

A conglomeration of New Wing and Old Wing today, The New Pavillion houses a total of 36 rooms divided into Deluxe rooms (5), Standard Rooms (16), Standard Family Suite (4) and Deluxe Family Suite (7) Set in an old fashion, the Deluxe family Suite is a combination of two bedrooms in succession, the first room complete with 2 sofa chairs and a centre table, phone, cabinet and full length mirror. The second bedroom has a satellite television, study desk in addition to the other facilities. There are two bathrooms, located at the far end of the second bedroom. Both the bathrooms have shower cubicles with amenities like soap, toilet paper and towels. The Standard family Suite is the same as above in terms of structure, services and facilities, except the fact that the second bedroom has an additional sofa set and a unique fireplace.

Dining

The restaurant is as quaint as the rest of the hotel with beautiful stained glass painting complementing an artwork of stained glass covering one of the walls. Another wall full with hand prints adds a tangent modern touch to the place. As the name suggests, the lodge seeks to sustain itself by eco-friendly means and thus has solar powered lights. Built like a machan, it is modelled on the lines of a typical Kumaoni house in villages, using only stone and wood. The resort gives you a taste of the rural lifestyle - it's very quaint and beautiful. Add to this the panorama of the Himalayan snow peaks spreading in front of you, and you will be charmed.

Rooms
There are eight Double bedrooms here and two Duplexes available at Chevron Eco Lodge. The Duplexes are built in a deliberately rough fashion, evoking a typical village house. The walls have a mud-plaster effect and the electric switches are the lumbering, black ones not seen anymore. The flooring is wooden and resounds under your feet. The delightful aspect of this room is that everything here is on the floor - the mattress, the television, the telephone as well as the large mirror with only a jute rug underneath. The interiors are all done with cedar wood. A small alcove has clothes hangers and shelves. A short flight of stairs goes to the mezzanine floor of the duplex that has a double bed, television, sofa chairs and telephone. There is a sloping roof adorned with a skylight. Both the floors have a washroom each. The washrooms are contemporary with shining tiles and modern amenities such as geyser and shower. Bath amenities include shampoo, soap and moisturiser. As you exit into the corridor, the windows frames are carved with quaint lanterns hanging and lounge chairs are placed strategically. The mud walls of the double bedrooms have traditional Kumaoni art work on the. These rooms have a double bed, en suite washrooms and the amenities are the same as the duplex.

Dining
The restaurant is primarily open air, shaped like an amphitheatre with a shed in one corner. The roof is gabled and like in so many houses on the mountains, the doors are painted dark blue with a thick coat of varnish. Bookshelves line the walls and the edges have jute lamps hanging from the ceiling. Outside seating is shaded by a large walnut tree around which copper pots and pans scattered around. The centre of the amphitheatre courtyard has a bon fire. The restaurant serves a multi cuisine fare.

Chevron Eco Lodge conference hall is currently under construction. Facilities include sightseeing, car rental, laundry service, doctor on call. Indoor games comprise carom and ludo.
