"A heritage hotel which is very convenientely located. Warm and hospitable staff. Only problem I faced was non-availability of running hot water. But the staff was helpful on providing hot water on request."

" Stayed at The Pavilion, Nainital for 3 nights from June 12, 2010 till June 14, 2010, group included four couples and four kids. Our experience at this hotel was kind of mixed. Lets start with good things first. 1) Location is very good, just next to the High Court - if you are coming from Kaladhungi side, you can easily drive up the hotel without being caught up in any traffic. People looking to be away from crowds and still be in walking distance of Mall Road will like it. Those looking for Naini Lake view or "right on the Mall" option should avoid it. 2) Mall Road/Naini Lake is 10 minutes walk downhill. You can enjoy shopping at candle shops on the way. But walking back uphill to hotel will be tiring, so recommend to take a taxi that costs between Rs. 60 to 100. 3) Hotel has nice little play area for kids and a garden. We had 4 kids in our group and they thoroughly enjoyed the open space they had for themselves. 4) We stayed in "Garden Facing Heritage Suites" - these rooms were spacious with separate sitting area, verandah overlooking the garden had sitting area for each room as well. So you could enjoy your cup of tea while kids played in the garden. 5) Hotel staff was generally polite and helpful. 6) Hotel restaurant served nice food, we did not opt for meal plan and had ala-carte dinner once. Masala tea was not good. Now for the sore points: 1) Rooms were not aesthetically done, in fact they were not done at all. Very basic furniture - we booked four rooms and all had different kind of beds - One room had a bed with pillars at each corner and one the pillar blocking view to TV, it would have made sense if there was a bed canopy or something but they were just naked ugly pillars. Another room had two large cots put together to form a double bed with standard size mattresses on them leaving around 9" uncovered bed on both sides! 2) Sofa, center table and chairs in seating area were all different. Sofa had all sorts of stains. Entire furniture gave a look and feel that it had been accumulated over the years from different junk yard sales. 3) Washrooms were clean, but not well stocked. They provide only mini soaps and two towels. Flush in two of the washrooms were non-functional on day one (they were repaired on complaint), washroom door in one room would not lock. One room had a bathtub and others did not. Though hot water supply was good. 4) TV in each of the four rooms had bad reception and were hardly of any use. 5) There is no ceiling fan and we did not need any as it rained on two of the three nights we stayed there. I am not sure if you could get away without one on a hotter night. 6) We requested for a camp fire to be arranged for our group, but hotel manager refused. To conclude we felt though hotel had nice look and feel to it, good location but rooms were not well kept. It was certainly not the quality you would expect after paying Rs 3750 per night! Certainly not the value for money. Would recommend to people looking for spacious hotel in nice location away from crowds and not particular about in room luxury. "

"The hotel did not care for the guests since the booking was made from makemytrip.com. The bathrooms were awful and leaking. We could not sleep for three nights. Despite informing the reception nothing was done to fix the bathroom."
