Day 1: Srinagar

Meals: Dinner

On arrival in Srinagar, take a transfer to the hotel or to the Superior Houseboats. In the afternoon, enjoy a shikara ride on the lake.

Day 2: Srinagar - Local Sightseeing (27 kms)

After breakfast, check out from the House boat and transfer to hotel. Check in at the hotel and later visit the famous Mughal Gardens, Cheshma Shahi (Royal Spring), Nishat Bagh (Garden of Pleasure), Shalimar Bagh (Abode of Love), the Mughals laid out in the 16th century. These fall along the banks of the Dal Lake in the heart of Srinagar city. Visit Shankaracharya Temple located on a hillock, thus providing panoramic views of the city, along with views of the famous Dal Lake & River Jehlum. Enroute, visit handloom centre famous for production of pashmina/ shahtoos shawls & carpets reckoned all over the world. Spend the evening at leisure with Shikara rides (on your own) at Dal Lake. Overnight stay at hotel.

Day 3: Srinagar-Gulmarg-Srinagar (112 kms)

Meals: Breakfast

Leave after breakfast for a full days excursion to Gulmarg. This meadow of wild flowers lies in the west of Srinagar at a distance of 56 kms. On an altitude of 2730 mts. above sea level, enjoy views of the snow caped mountains are all around and even a view of Nanga Parbat on a clear sunny day. This is the Premier winter sports Ski resort with one of the world's highest 18 hole golf courses. For joy seekers, there is a cable car upto Alpather via Khilanmarg by Asia's long run cable car ride (approx. 5 kms). in the evening, return back to hotel. Overnight stay at hotel in Srinagar.

Day 4: Depart Srinagar

Meals: Breakfast

Leave after breakfast for a tour of Srinagar city (old/new city) & proceed to Srinagar airport to board the scheduled flight for onward destination.

The picturesque Srinagar, the Summer Capital of Jammu and Kashmir, is a city of lakes and gardens. It possesses the quiet calm of someone who has seen too much of life. Since its history began - some date it back to the 3rd century BC-it has witnessed opulence and horror.

Shaken to destruction by an earthquake and washed away by floods in recent times, the city picked up the pieces. Its mystique was not missed by the powerful and the wise. Many rulers left a trace of their rule in Srinagar: Asoka, Vikramaditya, the Moghuls and the Dogra. The echo of the Sufi saints's wisdom still reverberates in Srinagar if you are willing to listen.

Urs at Sufi shrines revisit the saints' teachings on their death anniversary. Rozabal Shrine brings people to its door out of curiosity. It is said to be the tomb of Jesus Christ, a controversial claim. A Shiva temple on the Shankaracharya Hill is where Adi Shankaracharya meditated.

It is easy to forget the harsh reality in the enchanting gardens. The Mughal Gardens are like paradise recreated: Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh and Chashma Shahi Gardens. They are all designed to give you a magnificent view of Dal Lake.
