Shyamji Krishna Verma Airport, formerly known as Bhuj airport is located in the state of Gujarat. This airport was initially built for the Air force to act as a military base. Afterwards two bunkers were made for Indian Airlines and Jet airways by the authority of AAI. After the establishment of domestic terminal of this airport, it became functional in 2003 and domestic flights resumed to various cities of India. This airport also acted as a first aid centre for the victims of 2001 Gujarat earthquake by supplying medical and food supplies. Air force is still active on this airport for border security purpose.
