TravelTalk: Rapid Fire With Delnaaz Irani

Vivacious, bubbly and sassy, Delnaaz Irani is a lot like her most famous role – Sweetu from ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’. Her television career, of course, needs no introduction. We caught up with the chirpy lady recently and got her to spill some travel beans.

1. Would you describe yourself as a tourist, traveller or an explorer?

Tourist

2. Name one place you’d like to visit again and again?

London abroad and Goa in India

3. Which has been your best hotel stay to date?

Taj Vivanta in Goa

4. One place you haven’t been to but are yearning to go?

I haven’t been to Manali and Switzerland, and I’ve heard that Manali is the Switzerland of India. I’d like to visit both these places.

5. How do you prefer to travel: solo, couple, with friends, with family or in large groups?

As a couple.

6. Your favorite vacation memory

Staying with my brother in London

7. One destination that totally surprised you?

Paris, but not in a nice way. The city just didn’t click with me.

8. Your favourite place for a quick weekend getaway?

I often take off to Mahabaleshwar, Lonavla or Pune when I get a chance

9. The best meal you’ve ever had on a vacation?

Café Laville on Little Venice in London has the most amazing pork ribs and seafood

10. One crazy thing on your travel bucket list

I’ve never traveled alone. I want to backpack and explore India because our country is really beautiful.

11. Any secret travel tips you want to spill?

I am very prim and proper when it comes to traveling, and I plan extensively months in advance.

12. What’s the most romantic destination you have been to?

Drove down to Goa from Mumbai with my boyfriend, Percy and we had the most amazing time together.

13. Your must-carry travel accessory

Sunglasses!

14. Your most trusted travel app?

I don’t use any because I’m usually not the one making travel arrangements.

15. Your idea of a perfect vacation? 

I like my vacations to be extremely comfortable, laid back and relaxed. My idea of fun is to be able to do whatever I want, be it going for long walks, read, gorge on food or unwind by the beach. On a vacation, I just want to BE.
