The Woods Manor Hotel Description

The Woods Manor is a tall yellow building in the bustling M.G Road. A spacious lobby greets you as you enter with the reception located at the far end of the lobby. The lobby is covered with sofas clustered into sets and an artificial waterfall on one side. The waterfall is surrounded with plants and shrubs adding charm to the whole place. You can even see the restaurant bulging like a balcony from the first floor standing in the lobby.

Rooms
With a total of 57 rooms, the Woods Manor is divided into 37 Deluxe rooms, 12 Kerala rooms, 4 Deluxe Suites and 4 Kerala Suites. All the rooms here have a distinct air of a very relaxed atmosphere. The room structure, light and decor are very homely and the furniture further accentuates that. The Deluxe room is a compact room with wooden flooring and basic amenities like satellite television, study table, mirror on the wall, telephone, cupboard, luggage rack, mini bar in some rooms, and an attached window seating area. The washroom is compact too, with a small bathtub, running hot and cold water, telephone, bubble bath, shampoo and a shower cap. The Deluxe Suite is bigger with a separate living room and bedroom. The rectangle living room houses the sofa unit, satellite television, writing table and chair, mini bar and phone. The bedroom is a bigger room with two sofa chairs, double bed, phone, cupboard, dressing table, satellite television and a luggage rack. The bathroom is compact but clean and non smelly with a bathtub and running hot and cold water, and amenities like soap, shampoo, shower cap, linen etc. The Kerala Suite is carpeted and as the name suggests, is done in traditional Kerala decor. The cane sofa, bed and tables and chair compliment each other and are a stark reminder that you in God's very own country! The drawing room has a quaint writing table and dressing table, a cabinet with a mini bar inside it and a cane sofa unit. The bathroom is compact with a bathtub and running hot and cold water and the same amenities as the Deluxe Suite. The Kerala room is much like the Deluxe room except that the decor and furniture here is done in the traditional Kerala style. To give a deeper Kerala impact, this room has a intricately decorated wooden plank on the ceiling, along with the cane styled beds and chairs. The bathroom is compact with the same amenities as in a Deluxe room.

Dining
The hotel has a multi cuisine restaurant on the first floor with a seating capacity of 56 persons. The restaurant is packed with tables and chairs and the ambience may not appeal to some. But ardent food lovers just find their way back into the restaurant again and again for the variety of cuisines offered here. With a buffet breakfast and lunch and a la carte dinner on the menu, the place provides value for money. To add to all the jazz, a live band performs on every weekend, while Thursday and Friday nights are reserved for ghazal lovers. The hotel also has a light bite Coffee Shop as well next to the lobby. This alfresco eating joint serves sandwiches, toasts, fish and chips along with coffee, tea and milkshakes etc.

Facilities
The lobby level houses Aster, a small banquet hall for around 100 persons. on the upper floors lie another hall, which can accommodate 250 persons in theatre style. Both the halls are well facilitated with secretarial services that can be used for formal and informal gatherings. Besides these halls, there is a Board room as well for 15 persons. Living up to the tradition of Kerala, the place has an Ayurvedic massage centre as well with collaboration with one of the renowned ayurvedic Kerala hospitals in Cochin. Also open to outsiders, the rejuvenation massages and treatments offered here have found quite a few regular clients. After the massage, you can head straight to the terrace for a swim. Yes, the hotel has a beautiful 5 feet deep swimming pool on the roof top overlooking most of the skyscrapers in Ernakulam. Besides all these, a recreation club and a gymnasium are in the making here. The Woods Manor is located on the main M.G Road with the airport being 32 kilometres away, south Ernakulam Rail Junction about 0.5 kilometre away and the KTDC bus stop just a kilometer away.

Cochin International Airport (32 Km)

The Cochin International Airport is about 25 kilometres north of the city and handles both domestic and international flights. It is the largest airport of Kerala and one of the busiest in India and was built without Central Government funds.

Railway Station (1.5 Km)

Cochin has two major railway stations; Ernakulam Town and Ernakulam Junction, which are locally known as the North and South railway station. It is well connected to other parts of the state and country.

Fort Cochin (16 Km)

Fort Cochin is the old quarter of the city and is quieter and more scenic than the modern parts of the city. It has the atmosphere of Indian colonial history and its landmark is the Chinese fishing nets.

Willingdon Island is home of the modern port that serves Cochin. It is named after Lord Willingdon and is a man made island created from the materials dredged while deepening Kochi Port. It serves as a link between other sea ports of the world.

Bolghatty Palace (20 Km)

Located on Bolghatty Island, The Bolghatty Palace was built by the Dutch during their reign of the Kingdom of Kochi. The Palace is today a heritage hotel managed by the Kerala State Tourism Department.

Chinese Fishing Nets (20 Km)

Chinese Fishing Nets are fixed land installations for an unusual form of fishing. They are shore operated lift mechanisms which hold out nets of 20 metres or more.
