The hotel is located at a fantastic place. The quality of the washroom was poor, but rest I would say was good show. Also, think that the hotel is not that well-maintained. Food was really good. Overall, I really liked the place.

Bolgatty Palace Hotel Description

A huge Dutch Villa built in 1744 today is a heritage property under the Kerala government, which they have turned into a coveted resort and named it the Bolgatty Palace. A huge sprawling property which only the government can possess, Bolgatty Palace is a beautiful concoction of lush lawns, sweet smelling flowers, ancient Dutch building and the overlooking Vembanad Lake. A long driveway leads to the reception, which is compact with the reception on the left and the lobby on the right.

Rooms
The hotel has a total of 26 rooms, divided into 4 Palace Suites, 16 Deluxe Suites and 6 Lake Front Cottages. The Palace Suites are located in the original Dutch building block and has the characteristic huge rooms with high ceilings and rich woodwork. With 2 Suites on the ground and 2 on the first floor, these 2 roomed Suites have wooden floors and ceilings along the periphery of huge rooms. The living room is big with a life size mirror on the wall, matching sofa unit and dining table along with a study table and television. A big chandelier in the centre of the room gives a royal grandeur to the room. The bedroom is smaller and has a huge bed, sofa chairs, satellite television and some cabinets. The living and bedroom are connected by a cloak room, which houses the cupboard, luggage rack and a huge dressing table. The bathroom is big with a palatial bathtub and other amenities like soap, shampoo, running hot and cold water, linen etc. The Deluxe room is one big yet compact room with carpeted floors and luggage rack, satellite television, mirror on wall, study table, sofa chairs and a huge dressing table. These rooms have an attached balcony overlooking the vast expanse of the lawn and further into the Vembanad Lake. The bathroom is ok with a bathtub and amenities like soap, shampoo, comb, shower cap, shaving kit etc. The Lake Front Cottages are a new block situated on the edge of the land and opening onto the Vembanad Lake. You need to cross the swimming pool area to get to these cottages. The rooms here are smaller with the basic amenities like bed, satellite television, and luggage rack, sofa chair cum table, cupboard with sliding doors, study table and a mirror on the wall. There are huge windows facing the lake and you only need to draw the curtains to get a magnificent view of the lake and modern Ernakulam beyond that. The bathroom is small here with a shower cubicle and running hot and cold water supplies with the same amenities as in the Deluxe rooms.

Dining
The hotel houses the Pearl Spot multi cuisine restaurant just next to the pool. The restaurant enclosed in an independent cottage is decorated in Dutch style with high ceilings and wide windows. Again the woodwork deserves a special mention here because of its intricacies and this coupled with the variety of food makes dining a pleasurable experience. Open for breakfast (7:30 am - 10:00 am), lunch (12:30 pm - 3:00 pm) and dinner (7:30 pm - 10:00 pm), the restaurant can accommodate 45 persons. An adjoining cottage constitutes the High Life wine and beer bar for 30 people and is open from 10:00 am till 10:00 pm. Besides this, there is a Snacks bar in the lawn area for non resident visitors of the hotel

Facilities
The hotel has a beautiful open aired swimming pool about 5 feet deep in the centre of the property with comfortable lounge chairs surrounding it. Besides this, there is 'Age Halt' the Ayurvedic Massage Centre open from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. An experienced doctor first examines you before you can get a massage or treatment done by the experienced and well trained staff there. Besides these, there are 2 conference halls here, one in the Dutch building block with quaint interiors and the other, a modern hall called View Point for seminars and conferences and even small gatherings for 40 people in theatre style. The former hall is used more for board meetings. Both the halls are backed with excellent a secretarial service which is provided at an additional charge. Akriti, the gift shop is located in the lobby level just next to the seating area. The shop is stocked with artifacts, jewellery, books and journals on Kerala and even has useful good like cells, torch lights, film rolls etc. Besides these, there is a huge lawn in the hotel premises for picnics. Sport lovers can try their strokes in the nine hole golf course located at the lake side. Other in house facilities of the hotel include 24 hours room service, locker facilities at the reception, housekeeping service, laundry service, bell desk and internet facilities at an extra cost in the business centre.

Don't Miss
The Dutch building where the suites and 1 conference hall is housed. It is magnificent and in a way glamorous.

Location
Navigating you way into the Bolgatty Palace might be a little confusing as you have to cross small and twisting lanes. Originally the means to commute to this place was through ferries, but now a bridge has been constructed connecting Bolgatty to Ernakulam. The airport is 36 kilometres away from here and the South ernakulam railway station is 3 kilometres away. Fort Cochin is 25 - 30 kilometres away and will approximately take half an hour by road or ferry. There are regular bus services as well from the nearby flyover.
