This is a real gem of a hotel! Situated on the side of the harbour just 3 minutes walk from the jetty where the boat from Ernakulam drops you, it couldn't be better located. Its first floor balcony restaurant (serving excellent food) overlooks the harbour, giving the same view (in reverse) as the upmarket Taj on the other side (but at a far lower rate!) The entrance hall in traditional Kerala style is very welcoming, as are the staff for whom nothing seems too much trouble. The bedrooms are simply but tastefully furnished with comfortable bed, desk and chair, cable TV, fridge, wardrobe, air conditioner; the ensuite bathroom was one of the cleanest and smartest I have seen for some time! There is also a small business centre, small gym, and Ayurvedic masage centre. The hotel is well located, just a ten minute gentle stroll to the Chinese fishing nets; Jew Town needs a rickshaw. In short: AMAZING VALUE - GO THERE!

The staff at the Anchor House Hotel was top notch. We had several requests for sight-seeing and such, and all were accomodated with outstanding service. I highly recommend this establishment. You will NOT be disappointerd.

This hotel is primarily meant for back packers. The room that we had was tiny and could not accommodate an extra person. The bathroom is poorly done up. However the hotel staff more than made up for deficiencies by being helpful. All in all we managed to have a reasonably nice time.
