Location
The hotel is located 45 kilometres from the bus stand in Shimla and 25 kilometres from the railway station in Kandaghat.

Hotel Oakwood is a quaint, homely property perched on a steep slope, just off the main road in Chail. It is a noticeable structure with four floors and a parking space outside. It was started back in 1998 and has been in the running ever since.

Lobby
The lobby is a very cosy and welcoming space which is fully carpeted and has elaborate rugs spread out over these carpets. This space is much like a luxurious home with its cushioned, patterned sofas and glass top coffee tables. The varied and immense detailing in this space is prominent in the form of frames on the wall, mantle pieces and curtains matching the interiors. A wooden reception table sits on the right of the entrance with a television atop it and attached to the seating space is a dining area partitioned with a wood partition.

Rooms
3 of the floors have three rooms each making a total of 9 rooms. The rooms are divided into categories of 2 Deluxe rooms which are the lowest category, 4 Super Deluxe rooms and 3 Honeymoon Suites which are the highest category. The 3rd floor in the hotel is home to the colour oriented Honeymoon Suites. 2 of the Super Deluxe rooms and Honeymoon Suites boast of an extra single bed. The facilities common to all the rooms are cable television, telephone with SDT/ISD, room service from 7:00 am to 10:30 p, geyser in the washrooms and a heater/blower on request at an extra charge. All the rooms are fully carpeted and the major difference is the size of the rooms and the detailing of the interiors. The Honeymoon Suites boast of more mirrors which add to the already existing space. Each Honeymoon Suite had a different theme - Pink, Blue and Green.

Please note that room heaters are provided at an extra cost.

Dining
The dining hall connected to the reception offers Indian and Chinese food and is open from 7:00 am to 10:30 pm. This is only open for in house guests and flexible timings are offered to enjoy the meals. This is a well lit space which allows for natural lighting through the glass windows along the length of one wall. Alcohol is not served on the property but guests are welcome to but their own drinks and consume them in the privacy of their rooms.

This homey and comfortable property offers a time of peace and quiet and is perfect for families and honeymooners traveling together. A small group of friends can enjoy this space as well.
