Bandipur Overview
One of the few Tiger Reserves in India, Bandipur National Park is a natural treasure trove resting in the foothills of the Nilgiris. Formerly a favourite game resort of the Mysore Maharjas, it was set up as the Venugopal Wildlife Park by them in 1931. The forest the park is based in is in itself worth visiting: a mix of scrubland, deciduous, and evergreen vegetations. Take an elephant safari through the jungle’s trails, or you can even take your own car through its well-planned roads, and catch glimpses of a rich variety of wildlife, including: deers, bears, quails, hornbills, leopards, and tigers. The Moyar River is also quite beautiful as it makes its way through the forest.
