Ajanta’s carvings represent Buddhist teachings and events, while Ellora’s show Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, and includes the impressive Kailash Temple.. The City of Gates had 54 gates originally, but now only 13 survive, out of which the 4 that face the cardinal directions are held to be the most important. Another must see is the Bibi Ka Maqbara, a replica of the Taj Mahal that was built by Aurangzeb’s son. The ancient Daulatabad Fort, 13 km from the city, is also well worth a visit.
