Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is 10 kilometres north of Ahmedabad city and has both domestic and international flights. Connected with all major cities, it offers snack bars, shopping and facilities for the physically challenged.
Railway Station
One of the six operating divisions of the Western Railway, Ahmedabad is connected to all the major cities of India. The Ahmedabad Railway Station and Maninagar Railway Station are the main terminals for the city.
CG Road
One of the main roads in Ahmedabad, CG Road was remade in the 90s after which the road turned into a major financial hub. Today, it houses many major malls, restaurants and shopping centres.
Indian Institute of Management
The second IIM to be established in India in 1961, this educational institution is rated the most prestigious management school in the country.
Sabarmati Ashram
Popular with tourists, this was once the house of Mahatma Gandhi founded by him in 1915. It lies on a tranquil stretch of the Sabarmati River and now houses a handicrafts centre, a handmade paper factory and a spinning wheel factory.
Ellis Bridge
This major landmark structure in the city is an artery of public transport across the Sabarmati River. Modern extensions have been constructed on either side of the original bridge to support heavy traffic.
High Court
Located in the Navrangpura area, the High Court is approximately 12 kms from the citys railway station and 24 kms from the airport.
Kankaria Lake
A perfect place to see the sunset, this polygon lake offers pleasant walks, a recreational place and an island garden. Attracting good birdlife, a huge zoo, aquarium and childrens park stands by the lake. It was created in 1451 by Sultan Qutubuddin.
Khanpur
A residential area on the outskirts of the city, the neighbourhood of Khanpur also houses commercial outlets.
Teen Darwaza
It was built by Sultan Ahmed Shah and serves as the royal entrance to the royal square. Literally meaning Triple Gateway, Teen Darwaza is a trio of imposing arches and highly ornate buttresses of perfect proportions spanning the road.
S G Road
The Sarkhej Gandhinagar Highway is a recently developed hub of entertainment in Ahmedabad. It houses cinemas, restaurants, temples, educational institutions and indoor and outdoor shopping arcades and malls.
Akshardham Temple
The Akshardham Temple is located in Gandhinagar, 20 kilometres from Ahmedabad. With a blend of traditional sandstone carving and state of the art technologies like fibre optics and sound & light shows, it is one of the finest modern temples in India.
Jumma Masjid
Referred to as the most beautiful mosque of the East, it is an astounding example of IndoSaracenic architecture. It took 13 years to complete and is constructed around a pool. Supported by 210 slim pillars, it caters separately for men and women.
Navarang Pura
Navrangpura is an area with various tourist attractions including the Gujarat Tribal Museum, Usmanpura Garden and Saiyad Usman Mosque. The High Court and Income Tax Office are also housed here.
Swaminarayan Temple
Built in the 1800s, this is the first of the Swaminarayan temples in India. A gaily painted façade, courtyard surrounded by carved balconies and galleries, glittering idols and gild doors are its highlights. It also has a unique octagonal dome.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is the 7th busiest airport in India, and services the cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The airport is spread over an area of 1124 acres with the runway measuring 3.5km. It serves 7 international carriers
Idgah Bus Station
